The Kappa picnic on July 4, 1946 served as a celebration of the end of World War II as well as a Kappa planning meeting to get the Indianapolis Alumni Chapter (IAC) "back up to full speed" for activities interrupted by the war. Alberta Armstong, Susie Artis and Grace Bryant coordinated the food for the picnic and discussed ways the ladies could support their Kappa's. This was the first "meeting" of the Kappa Wives.
The Kappa meetings rotated from home to home and as the IAC began to grow, so did their families. At one of the meetings in (circa) late 1940's the Kappa's agreed to pool money and look for a permanent meeting location. A small apartment building located at 42nd and Boulevard (now a park) was purchased.

The Indianapolis Kappa Silhouettes provided a gift shop for children to choose free Mother's Day presents for their moms who are victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and other crises.
Every year, the Indianapolis Kappa Silhouettes donate clothing, shoes, and other items to Dress for Success, which is an organization designed to empower women to achieve economic independence.
The Silhouettes donate time and talent to fulfill the mission of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. We participate in the YMCA's signature annual toy drive, which helps Indianapolis-area families during the holiday season.
