Immediate Past President of The Indianapolis Chapter of The Silhouettes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Denise is the widow of Michael J. Owens, Sr. who was a very involved life member, dedicated to his fraternity. Denise joined the Silhouettes at the behest of longtime local member Donna Lee in the late 1980’s and has remained active, serving in many roles since. She has held the office of President three times, each for the maximum terms allowed, and led the organization during the memorable 2011 National Meeting here in Indy. In addition to those 3 local top leadership stints, she has been the financial officer; served as the NCP President/Coordinator; worked on the National Board and held many committee chair positions, the current one being local Co-Chair of the Social Committee.
Denise is obviously dedicated to our chapter & the organization as a whole with a deep desire to see us grow and prosper while having fun – which is always her primary focus.
She (and Michael) were blessed with two sons, both married to wonderful “Daughters-in-love”, 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 Godchildren & 6 “godly-grands. Many of their offspring are currently (or have in the past) serving in the military with 4 Army; 2 Airforce; 1 Navy & 1 Marine, for which she is very proud.
Denise’s interests are varied and while she is a retired securities principal/manager & insurance agency owner, she still stays very busy with real estate, an EBay business, art projects, working out, volunteering with seniors and traveling as often as possible. Yet no matter her other demands, Denise still makes her beloved Silhouettes a priority.
